Exhibits
The Exhibits department is responsible for the design, construction, installation and maintenance of all the exhibits in the museum. That means our department wears many hats and has to be ready to do anything from painting replica fossils to installing electronics equipment and everything in between!
Most changing exhibits take two to three years to plan. Once the research is done and the artifacts chosen, the exhibits department designs and builds the labels as well as constructing barriers, display structures, and anything else needed to put together an exhibit.
Continuing exhibits take up to five years or more to plan and the Exhibits team is hard at work the entire time. They coordinate the research and construction of all exhibits and build all the effects of each exhibit. Effects can include anything from the fake water in the Habitats and Food Webs Gallery to the "canned" food in the Scolnik House of the Depression Era. The Lakeshore Museum Center is very lucky to have an experienced Exhibits team.
