EDUCATION VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

If you are looking for a way to have fun with history and science, then the Education Department is the place to be! Thousands of children come to the museum every year for our unique and exciting programs, but we need your help.

We are currently looking for volunteers for all of our programs, ranging from Lumbering to Electricity to Food Webs. There is no need for you to have background in any of these subject areas, only for you to have an interest. As an education volunteer, you would facilitate 30-minute to 1-hour programs to students from Kindergarten up to fifth grade, in which you would explain a topic using artifacts and experiments to enhance the information. In order to volunteer, please be able to come in at least twice a month and have good oral communication skills. The Education Staff will provide training, and when you are ready, you too can show kids how exciting history and science can be. You must have good verbal skills, flexibility, patience, and work well with children of various ages.

As an education volunteer, you will also enjoy museum store discounts, behind-the-scenes access to the museum, opportunities for trips, and of course knowing that you made the museum an interesting and memorable experience for area kids.

If interested, feel free to contact the Education Department of the museum at (231) 722-0278 and click HERE for a Volunteer Form.
