The Education Department offers several resources to help enhance your field trip, including gallery worksheets and specialty tours. These resources provide an in-depth learning experience that makes your museum trip a more memorable visit for you and your students.

Specialty Tours:

Artifact Handling
Program Length: 30 minutes
Grade Level: K-5th grade
Capacity: 30 students
Students will get an opportunity to learn what an artifact is, why it is important, and how the museum takes care of artifacts. Hands-on experience includes students putting on gloves and handling a museum artifact, just like the curators.

Behind the Scenes Tour
Program Length: 45 minutes
Grade Level: 3rd-5th grade
Capacity: 15 students
After a brief introduction to the Muskegon County Museum and how museums function, students will get an opportunity to tour the museum and meet employees to see the work that goes on behind closed doors.

Artifacts Use
The Education Department has several volumes of Muskegon newspapers from the 1920s, 1930s, and 1950s. Educators may use these books during their visit or take them back to the classroom for a hands- on history experience. Call the Education Department at 722-0278 for further details.
